Separate the eggs first. Beat the yokes until light and fluffy. Gradually add 1 cup sugar to the yokes. In a separate bowl, Sift flour and then re-sift adding baking powder. Add the flour to the yokes, alternating with orange juice until fully incorporated.
Prepare the egg whites. Beat egg whites until frothy, then add 1/2 cup sugar. Beat until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the prepared egg whites into the egg yoke mixture, then pour into a greased loaf or tube pan. I lined mine with parchment for easy removal. Bake at 350 Degrees for 30-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Prepare the Glaze
Combine the orange juice, powdered sugar and vanilla. Mix until smooth and no clumps remain. Add or limit the amount of sugar added to reach desired thickness of glaze.
Wait until the cake fully cools before pouring glaze over the cake, or it will roll off without coating.
